Since May, Turkey's cold rolled coil import market has mainly shown a negative growth trend, but in August, driven by the increase of China's shipment, the import volume increased significantly. The data of this month provides strong support for the total amount of eight months in 2021.
According to the Turkish Bureau of Statistics (tuk), the import volume of cold rolled coil in August increased by 861% year-on-year to 156,000 tons. This substantial increase is mainly supported by China. This time, the country became the main supplier of cold rolled coil for Turkish customers, with a shipment of about 108,000 tons, accounting for 69% of the monthly delivery. The cooperation between Russia and Turkey decreased by 61.7% to 18,600 tons, compared with 48,600 tons in the same period in 2020.
Such impressive achievements in August made China among the top suppliers in the first eight months of 2021, reaching 221,000 tons, and the trade volume increased by 621% year-on-year. According to tuk's data, during the reporting period, Turkey's total imports of cold rolled coils increased by 6% year-on-year to 690,500 tons. Asia served as the main source of products for Turkish buyers, with shipments of 286,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 159%. The trade scale of CIS suppliers decreased by 24.3% and sold about 269,000 tons of cold rolled coils.
