Malaysia imposes anti-dumping duties on cold rolled coils from China, Vietnam and South Korea

Malaysia imposed anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled coils imported from China, Vietnam and South Korea to protect domestic producers from unfair imports.

According to official documents, on October 8, 2021, the Ministry of international trade and industry (MITI) of Malaysia announced that it had decided to impose a final anti dumping tax of 0% to 42.08% on cold coils of alloy and non alloy steel with a thickness of 0.2-2.6mm and a width of 700-1300 mm imported from China, Vietnam and South Korea.

The imposition of anti-dumping duties on goods exported or originating in China, South Korea and Vietnam is a necessary condition to offset dumping. The termination of anti-dumping duties is likely to lead to the recurrence of dumping patterns and harm domestic industries, said the Ministry of international trade and industry of Malaysia. China's tax rate is 35.89-4208%, depending on suppliers, while Vietnam and South Korea's tax rate are 7.42-33.70% respectively And 0-21.64%, depending on the supplier. These tariffs are valid for five years from October 9, 2021 to October 8, 2026.

The Malaysian government started the administrative investigation in April 2021. According to the report, the application was launched against the petition filed by domestic steel manufacturer mycron steel CRC Sdn. Bhd on March 15, 2021.
